Description

Genti Bay is a secluded pocket of sand tucked between two headlands on the southern coast, reached via a short spur off the Reef Bay Trail. Just before the old Reef Bay Sugar Mill, a side path climbs over a small rise and drops to the beach. The spur is less than a quarter mile long and takes about 20–60 minutes round trip, depending on how long you linger. Dense sea grape and maho trees line the path, providing shade and a feeling of seclusion. When you emerge, you’ll find a narrow crescent of sand and usually calm water - welcome relief after hiking down Reef Bay. There are no amenities here, so pack out all trash and bring water. Because the bay is sheltered, it’s often one of the calmest swimming spots on the south side. The beach is part of the Virgin Islands National Park and dogs on leashes are permitted. After relaxing at Genti Bay, return the way you came and continue exploring the sugar mill ruins or begin the long climb back up the Reef Bay Trail.
