Why Visit Great Lameshur Bay?

Great Lameshur Bay, adjacent to Little Lameshur, is a lesser‑known gem for travelers searching for "St John snorkeling.” A rough dirt road keeps crowds away, making this bay a haven for experienced snorkelers seeking solitude. While the beach is mostly stones and pebbles and not ideal for sunbathing, the underwater world is impressive.

Snorkeling & Activities at Great Lameshur Bay

Great Lameshur’s rocky bottom and deeper water make it better suited to confident snorkelers than swimmers. Snorkel along the point near Yawzi Peninsula to see coral outcroppings and colorful fish. Because waves can grow large near the point, snorkel with caution. Walking trails connect Great Lameshur to Little Lameshur and the Lameshur Bay Trail, leading to petroglyphs and sugar mill ruins.
