Description
One of the most accessible hikes on St. John, the Lind Point Trail starts behind the National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay and provides a forested escape within minutes of town. The main trail runs roughly 2.3 miles round trip, with side paths to Salomon and Honeymoon beaches. It ascends gradually through dry forest where bay rum trees, agave and prickly pear grow amid loose coral rubble. At a fork, the lower trail continues along the contour to Salomon Bay while the upper trail climbs to a ridge with views of Cruz Bay and St. Thomas. Both routes reunite near Honeymoon Beach, a crescent of white sand accessible only by foot or boat. On the way you may encounter hermit crabs and anole lizards; in spring the air is fragrant with bay rum and maho blooms. A short spur leads to Lind Point Overlook, where wooden benches invite you to rest and take in the turquoise panorama. With its moderate difficulty and easy access, the trail is popular for morning jogs and sunset strolls. Carry water and be aware that there are no facilities on Salomon or Honeymoon beaches - pack out what you bring.
