Description
The Tamarind Trail serves primarily as a short connector between North Shore Road and the Caneel Hill Trail. At about 0.4 mile in length it is a steady uphill walk through secondary forest. The path is well maintained and shaded by tamarind and genip trees, making it a pleasant workout for locals who use it regularly for exercise. As you climb you’ll notice stone walls and cuttings left from the old Danish road system. The trail ends at a junction with the Caneel Hill Trail; turn left to continue up to the overlook or right to descend toward the Caneel Bay resort. Because of its short length, Tamarind is often used as an alternate access point for the Lind Point / Caneel Hill network, especially when parking near Cruz Bay is crowded. Bring water and good shoes - the incline is steady but not overly steep. This trail rarely sees large numbers of tourists, offering a quiet escape within minutes of town.
