Description
This spur off the Lind Point Trail provides hikers with foot‑access to one of St. John’s most intimate beaches. From the national park visitor center in Cruz Bay it’s less than a mile to Salomon Bay. At a fork, choose the lower route for a slightly shorter, less hilly walk or the upper route for better maintenance and views from the Lind Point Overlook. Either way, a signed spur drops about 250 feet to the sand. An alternative starting point is the Caneel Hill Spur on North Shore Road, which makes the total walk just over half a mile but includes a steep descent and climb. Salomon Beach itself is a narrow curve of white sand backed by sea grapes; there are no facilities, so bring water, snacks and everything you need. The shallow reef between Salomon and neighbouring Honeymoon Bay is known for healthy corals and colourful fish. Parking at the trailhead is extremely limited; visitors often obtain a permit to park at the park headquarters. Because the route is rocky and can be slippery after rain, sturdy footwear is recommended. Early morning hikes are especially rewarding before the heat and crowds arrive.
